The highlights of each version: what is new, what has changed and what was removed. Smaller bug fixes are grouped together. The guide explains every feature in detail.

Version 7.0

November 2026 · Rebuilt from scratch

After 15 years the app was rewritten from the ground up. The five areas Status, Overview, Statement, Statistics and Goals are still there; everything underneath is new. The update is free for existing customers, and on first launch the app migrates your existing data. All the details are on the upgrading page.

New: devices

  • A native Mac app with a sidebar, separate windows, undo and redo, printing, keyboard shortcuts and a menu bar item showing your balance.
  • Apple Watch: see balances, budgets and recent entries, book expenses and income from your wrist, complications for balance, budget and savings goal.
  • iPad with a sidebar for all areas, keyboard shortcuts and drag & drop.
  • One purchase covers iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch.

New: booking

  • Quick entry: a sentence like “12.50 bakery yesterday cash” becomes a finished entry.
  • Receipt scan: take a photo of a receipt and amount, date, merchant and payment method fill the form. Recognition runs on the device.
  • Attachments: photos, scans, PDFs, sketches and signatures on any entry.
  • Rules: “If the title contains REWE, set category Groceries.” They apply on import, while you type and, if you want, retroactively. You can create a rule straight from an entry.
  • Calculator and calendar in the entry form, also for amounts in a foreign currency.
  • Duplicate check: the app asks when you have probably entered something already, for example rent that already runs as a recurring entry.
  • Location of an entry (optional) and a map of your spending.
  • Mark as tax-relevant, with a filter and a yearly export including receipts as a ZIP file.
  • Multiple currencies with daily exchange rates.

New: planning and analysis

  • Contracts & subscriptions: fixed costs per month and year, notice periods with reminders, price increases in percent.
  • Forecast: “Free until month end” on Status, a projection up to twelve months ahead, a warning before you go negative and “what if”.
  • Budgets are calculated live, with carry-over and a warning when you exceed them.
  • Savings goals with notifications at 25, 50, 75 and 100 % and a small celebration when you reach them.
  • Eleven reports, plus a monthly summary and a year in review you can share as an image.
  • Statistics with a comparison to the previous period or the previous year.
  • Statement as a calendar with daily totals and upcoming recurring entries.
  • Detailed search with search & replace for bulk changes.
  • Reminders: “Booked anything today?”, recurring entries the day before and reconciliation at month end.

New: data and security

  • Import from 59 bank and app formats: CSV, QIF, OFX and CAMT, with a preview, duplicate detection and category suggestions from earlier entries.
  • Export as CSV, text, PDF, HTML, Markdown, QIF and CSV for YNAB.
  • Encrypted backup with a passphrase and automatic backups, at most once a day.
  • iCloud sync between iPhone, iPad and Mac through your private iCloud, attachments included. Off by default. A status view names real problems such as full storage.
  • App lock with a passcode, Face ID or Touch ID, auto-lock, privacy cover in the app switcher and incognito mode.
  • Accounts in your own order and an archive for accounts you no longer use.
  • “Reset app” and “Create sample data” to try everything out with a sample household.

New: usability and appearance

  • Twelve languages: German and English maintained by hand, plus French, Italian, Spanish (Spain and Mexico), Dutch, Portuguese (Brazil), Japanese, Korean and Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), machine-translated. You can pick the language inside the app.
  • Twelve color schemes, light, dark or following the system.
  • Five Status layouts on iPhone, from “Minimal” to “Expert”.
  • Widgets for balance, budgets and quick entry, controls for Control Center and the Action button, quick actions on the app icon, Siri and Spotlight.
  • Help inside the app, a guided tour the first time you open each area and “What’s new” after an update.

Changed

  • Periods instead of display modes: the six display modes of the old app have been replaced by a period: month, quarter, half-year or year. For any other range, use the detailed search.
  • App lock: a 4 to 6 digit passcode instead of a password, optionally with Face ID or Touch ID. You set it up again after the update.
  • iCloud: instead of a file in iCloud Drive, the app syncs through your private iCloud database.
  • Budgets: the monthly budget copies of the old app are gone; budgets are now calculated continuously.
  • Backup: a new, encrypted backup format. You set up automatic backups again after the update.

Removed

  • Excel export: no longer available. CSV files open in Excel and Numbers.
  • Old backup files (.mhs/.mhc) can no longer be read. Migration works from the old app’s database or via CSV.
  • Weeks and custom ranges are no longer available as a period.
